ASDMAE RCItCa-01-02-04 · Subsubseries · 1925 - 1935
Part of Archive of the Royal Italian Consulate in Cairo (1861–1940)

Files organised by positions in accordance with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs classification scheme approved in 1924.

The scheme provides three general categories corresponding to functions/activities or subject areas, and five special categories.

The “general categories”, corresponding to broad subject areas, are distinguished by a letter:
A – Political affairs;
B – Commercial affairs;
C – Private affairs.

The special categories (sometimes also referred to as special archives) are:

  • GAB - Cabinet affairs;
  • Pers - Staff affairs and administrative office;
  • Cer - Ceremonial affairs;
  • Schools - Affairs of schools abroad;
  • Press - Press affairs.

The classification scheme effectively constitutes - just as it did for contemporaries - a guide to consulting the records.

Part of Archive of the Royal Italian Consulate in Cairo (1861–1940)

General correspondence produced over a very short period (the second half of 1924), organised in alphabetical positions.

The files are therefore titled by correspondents and/or subjects of correspondence, arranged alphabetically.

  • Box 1: Pos. 1–3 (A–C). Position 3 (C) is subdivided into three parts: Various consulates; Consular accounting; Correspondence.
  • Box 2: Pos. 4–11 (D–L). Position 5 (E) is subdivided into two parts: Egypt and Correspondence.
  • Box 3: Pos. 12–17 (M–R) and Pos. 19–25 (T–Z).

Position 18 (S – Schools. School accounting) is located at the end of the subseries “School Archive – Correspondence organised by positions (1915–1924)”. The “S” correspondence appears to have been lost.
